Things to do in Bahrain Museums, Forts and Mosques If you are a history lover, a good place to start is the Bahrain National Museum where you can learn about Bahrain's rich history throughout the millennia. Other Muse sites include the Museum of Pearl Diving, Bait Al Quran, Forts at Riffa, Arad and of course the Bahrain Fort itself are remarkable examples of ancient architecture. Stamps and Currency collectors will have a field day at the stamps and currency museums. If you are interested in knowing more about Islam, then head for the Al Fateh Mosque in the new Juffair area where friendly guides are ready to enlighten you. There are also museums devoted to the history of petroleum production as well as several art galleries. The Bahraini Ministry of Education maintains a network of public libraries, the oldest of which, in Manama, opened in 1946. The emirate also maintains one of the principal wildlife conservation areas in the Arabian Gulf region, Al-Areen Park, which harbours such indigenous mammals as the oryx and gazelle and is visited by many waterfowl species.
