Things to do in Toulouse There are so many things to see and visit, here is a selection of some of the main attractions in historical Tolouse: The Basilica of Saint-Sernin: the basilica from the XIth century is a listed UNESCO heritage site. The Jacobins Convent: this a jewel of southern Gothic art that was established in the XIII and XIV centuries. La Grave Chapel: was built around the XVIII Century on a gravel bank left by the River Garonne, and is nowadays the most photographed building in Toulouse! The Canal du Midi: Several canals cross the city but the Canal du Midi that links Toulouse and the Mediterranean Sea is listed as World Heritage by UNESCO and definitely worth to be traveled on foot, by bike or boat. Around Toulouse Do you feel like escaping city life for a short while? Toulouse is the capital of the Occitanie region and its geographical location make it ideal for escapades to explore an area that boasts countless exceptional sites. Albi and the medieval village of Cordes-sur-Ciel: Rendezvous in Albi to explore an episcopal town listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. As for Cordes-sur-Ciel, this is a hilltop village with steep, cobbled streets, sculpted Gothic fa├žades and at its summit, an unrivalled view across the valley below. Carcassonne: A unique fortified ensemble of medieval buildings, listed as World heritage by UNESCO. Lourdes: sanctuary has been welcoming millions of visitors for 160 years. It all started in 1858, when a fourteen-year-old Bernadette Soubirous recounted her visions of the Virgin Mary. The grotto has ever since been a pilgrimage site of global significance.
