Khayal is a Database developer, based in Gdansk, Poland. He joined AWS in December 2020.
HereAtAWS: Tell us about your career journey. What brought you to your current role at AWS?
Khayal: I started my career six years ago in the banking sector, my experience is mostly related to the banking vertical, but I like to work on lots of different projects. I was looking for new opportunities and I realised that AWS would be great fit for me; working with lots of different challenges and implementing new ideas. When I joined, I relocated to Gdansk, Poland from Azerbaijan.
HereAtAWS: Can you explain in simple terms: your role, who your customers are, and how you help them?
Khayal: We are migrating legacy databases and applications to cloud-based technologies, whilst building our own automation processes at the same time.
HereAtAWS: What skills do you need to succeed in your role?
Khayal: We should know different database engines, interaction of databases, applications and infrastructures.
HereAtAWS: What’s the most exciting part of your job?
Khayal: It is important for me that we don’t work only for delivering and we try to improve our processes, I am curious about finding new solutions for new challenges.
HereAtAWS: What advice would you give people joining AWS?
Khayal: AWS is a very good company if you want to help customers and get the chance to implement your own ideas by learning new skills and technologies.
HereAtAWS: What three words would you use to describe workdays at AWS?
Khayal: Learn, Deliver and Invent.
